Visitor Tourist Visa and provisions
Are you a tourist, business person, or student wanting to visit the UK? Do you have family or friends you wish to visit in the UK? Are you seeking special medical care? There are special visas and provisions for people who want to visit temporarily from a few days to six months. A specialised visa will allow for this. In some cases, multiple entries are an option whereby the visa can be valid for up to two years, or as in the case of Medical Visitor Visa, until the treatment is completed.
The rules for UK entry will vary according to the country from which one is traveling. For some, only a passport is needed. The passport must be valid throughout the length of the visit. The visit will not exceed six months unless special provisions are met for a longer stay.
Business travelers have many options for entering the UK. Business visas also have many requirements that must be fulfilled, including such things as proof of employment, proof of traveling funds, and exit date or itinerary. For the business traveler whose business will take a longer period of time, as with entrepreneurs, there are provisions for two-year visas that can be extended.
Students can come to the UK on a working holiday or they can come to study full time. Different visas are needed, depending on the nature of the visit. Student visas for studying are issued for an initial period of one year and can be renewed, depending on the length of the course. If the student has not yet been accepted at his school he can still apply as a Prospective Student. Under the provisions of the Working Holidaymakers Visa, students between the ages of 17 and 30 accept employment to help fund their holiday while it is in progress. This visa is good for up to two years.
Vacationers who come to the UK to see the historic sites, visit the countryside, and soak up English culture will enter on a Tourist Visitor Visa. This visa is valid for up to six months. If you have family in the UK that you wish to visit, the Family Visitor Visa is what you want. This requires a letter of invitation from the residing family member. Proof of adequate funds or availability of support is necessary.
